So I’m officially going to go look at a car this Sunday! It’s a manual swapped 89 MX83 Cressida, with a ton of miles on it, and it’s over priced because Drift Tax. But it meets all the criteria I have for my next car, including being something you don’t see everyday. Plus it’ll be the first car I’ve owned that is older than me the closest I’ve come to that was a 1991 Civic that was built the same year I was born.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Also every single non-enthusiast I’ve shown it to has said something along the lines of “Why would you want that old lady car.” so thats cool.

Also found a sweet sticket that will be going on my next car no matter what it is.

Cool, never had one but always liked them because RWD. That one looks nice but the rims aren't working for me.

I second the rim opinion, those are hideous

Very nice choice indeed. What are the miles and asking price of this specimen if you don’t mind spilling the details.

Not my style either. I think they’re IS300 wheels. I’ll either try replace them with some smaller wheel or just paint them white. They do kinda match the car tho I mean it does have a lot of chrome and even with 17”s that's a 215/45/17 so that is a decent amount of sidewall.

3200 and 218k. It’s got very little rust tho and about 5k ago when the trans swap was done, new clutch, and Megan Racing coilovers, new front pads and rotors, accessory belts , filters, plugs and wires. Only thing it still needs is the timing belt but its a non interference engine and i should be able to do it myself for less that 100 Bucks. That’s one reason i like this car since its a Toyota the parts are relatively cheap and repairs are simple unlike some of the Germans i had been looking at .

Since the belt isn’t done offer $2900. Gotta get some of that Drift Tax money back.

Well this morning the seller informed me that the diff has been welded aka rendered useless. Even though in the ad he stated that it still had an open diff. I told him in that case i wouldnt pay more than 2500 in order to cover the cost of replacing the welded diff with a proper LSD from a turbo supra and a nee t belt. Which is something i would have liked to do eventually but now would need to do asap.
