Our first two AMG GTs were delivered today and I was lucky enough to drive on for a short period. Wow. I haven’t gotten to drive too many high performance cars beyond Corvettes and a couple other AMG’s, so getting to drive this was incredible. The interior is honestly a bit cramped, with a few odd details, such as the seat heater and hazard light switches on the ceiling and the Shifter being located way to far back. Material wise, it’s typical Mercedes quality, with all the latest bells and whistles.
But I doubt anyone is reading this to hear about the quality of plastic or amount of leather. So how did it drive, you might wonder. Well, as I said before, Wow. What a car. Course I didn’t get to go past 4k RPM per break in rules, but I’ve never driven a turbocharged car that felt this responsive. It honestly felt very similar, power delivery wise, to the old C63. Very smooth and linear. Oh yeah, and that noise! Best turbocharged V8 I’ve ever heard. Still not quite as great a noise as the M156, but with the exhaust flaps open, this car makes a great noise. My one complaint is there is a lot of tire roar which covers that noise a little bit.
Hopefully I’ll get a little bit more time with the cars, but unfortunately, both are already sold. Next one is in production!

The one thing I can say about the AMG-GT is that it looks much cleaner without the fixed spoiler..
