Well, well. I’ve heard of such things but never expected I’d be getting such an offer: the dealership I bought my !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! from wants to buy it back.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
What does Oppo think? I’m thinking that since it appears its not a straight up buy-out - i.e., take the cash and walk - that I’ll keep it.

Very common and a total crock. They want you in a payment and they want a desirable used model back on the lot. The say they will pay “top dollar” or “only mileage adjusted from retail” but they decide the adjustment rate. It’s not a scam or anything but it’s not like they are willing to pay you what you want for it

Yep, that’s what I figured, though I didn’t know it was “very common”.

If they have any manual transmission TSX or older TLs left I would at least consider it. But for their newest lineup I wouldn’t bother. The ILX is “good” but for only a narrow slice of the segment IMO. Better than when it first launched and was little more than a civic but a far cry from acuras of old. Basically see if you can use the buyback on top of a “we need to get rid of this” discount for a couple grand in savings to make it worthwhile.

But... But free spring detail package valued at 29.95 if you act now!!!

Don’t feel too special. I used to get similar offers on my old Intrepid, and it was a well known POS car. (Comfy ride though, I’ll give it that much)

Take the money and run - many Mazdas, BMWs, and high-end Hondas out there to buy.

I’ve seen a few like these (the best one I’ve come across which was Skoda offering a colleague a £2,000 upgrade (like for like on a new build) on his two year old Skoda Roomster as Skoda didn’t have many used Roomsters to fill demand on the forecourts) and it should be taken with a pinch of salt as they come out best. If you have time have a wonder over and see what they say but if the prices don’t work for you, walk away. They make it sound grand and everything but its just a tactic to get inventory moving.

If you have the time, and aren’t easily talked in to things, go in and see if you can get the money and leave. Otherwise, they just want you on a payment in a new car.

I get these from Honda too, they want my Civic, which I got rid of over a year ago :/

total bullshit. I worked in the industry and used to rail against these schemes. They might put a good price on the front end, but they will pack it on to the gross of the new car. Junk

I got one back when I had my corolla. I was like “yeah, my nearly 10 year old car with high mileage is highly desirable.”
My girlfriend has a 2012 Mazda3 and she's already getting those offers.

The Lexus dealer offered to buy my mom’s RX back. Don’t do it, as they’re trying to get better cars to sell used (this RX had a whole bunch of standard features that are now top-dollar options), and more than likely they’ll probably give you less than what it’s worth.

Yours looks better than anything they currently make. Maybe a sideways trade for a type S of the same generation, in blue?

The Type-S in “Kinetic Blue” with a manual transmission is, probably, the unicorn of the 3rd generation TL. I’ve seen two in the last six months, and I’m on the road a lot. A tempting trade if one is available, but what are the chances they have such a vehicle on their lot? And what are the chances it has the same history as my TL - 1 owner, lady driven, 57,000 km?
What a great color on this car though, looks like a grown-up WRX STi with these gold BBS-style wheels. Photo credit: AcuraZine.com member Ch33sE1

They probably realized the new ones suck and are trying to buy the old ones back

Oh I know, super rare. But even just a normal S would be cool. Honestly I think that gen TL is one of the most desirable cars Acura has ever made.

It's all about used car inventory. The Honda dealer I bought my Civic from has a whiteboard in the service area that actually tells them what cars they need on the lot, but it would seem rather innocuous to the average Joe who doesn't know what they're looking at. I can only imagine whenever "X" car comes into service they get a call from the sales manager saying how they want to buy back the car.
