You may remember seeing !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . A Top Fuel dragster engine converted to run on diesel and piss off your neighbors three farms away. Well, they have continued development and this season, it’s time to go see it on track at your first NHRDA event. Supposedly in that video on the dyno, they only ran it up to 4,000 rpm and the dyno couldn’t keep up with it.

It went in to a work of art matte black “truck”. It ‘ was ’ a 511 cubic inch Top Fuel motor running on alcohol now converted to diesel, driving the superchrager at 60psi (roughly 120 in. manifold pressure), with 500% over duramax injectors. This gears up over 3,500 pounds of torque. Check out the throttle response, it’s instantaneous. (Those turbo guys have to jockey the brake torque to build boost for the green light instead.)
Now, since the dyno wasn’t wnough to handle the truck, they took it outside for a little bit of testing. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , I can’t seem to get a FB video to embed properly here so you’ll have to click to watch that violence yourself. Brutal doesn’t even explain or describe. Homicidal propulsion. It looks like it wants to climb out of whatever track it’s at and strangle everyone.
Yes, they have run at events and continue to test. They have had problems with the fuel pumps and other times a water pump but this thing will be ready to rock soon and chase down that 7.46 second world pro stock record that’s currently run with a twin-turbo Duramax.
The world of high end diesel power is not just here but farther along than any of us think. Oppo’s own !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , in a few previous posts, explained the following to me about the highest of tuning talents in these engines:

Indeed. So I did. Here is Wade Moody who owns that pro stock NHRDA record.
6.000+ rpm diesels with head design of contemporary Gasoline direct injection. It appears we will see a showdown between turbo and supercharger, one that has to be boosted up at the line and the other that has instant throttle response. We shall see what this year holds for one of the most visually and technically exciting trucks. I mean, it’s diesel and there’s flames coming out of it’s exhaust!

I’m confused by the talk of throttling (and how he’s flipping open a throttle in the video). Is it just a direct injected engine that happens to burn diesel? Does it run a diesel cycle (compression ignition, no spark) but add a throttle to choke the supercharger?

kinja fail. Replied to wrong thread, mobile wouldn't let me cancel: "please enter some content" I was lazy and just put a single letter in rather than taking the time to write "Kinja Fail!" Or navigate away from the page... Either of which would have saved me writing this lengthy explanation, but would also have deprived me of the chance to rant about how "kinja is always broken" and "blows goats" or "never works right on mobile" and "has never, except for a one week period almost 6 months ago alowed a WindowsPhone product to upload an image correctly"...

That was when he was just feeling the car out. Chassis is certed down to 6.5 I believe
