I LOVE to go to the Collector Car Swap Meet events at Carlisle Fairgrounds in Carlisle, PA. I play hooky twice a year to go ride a beater Ross Apollo around 150 acres of boxes and piles of other guys’ car shit. It’s therapy for me. Sadly, it was so cold today that I didn’t stay as long as usual, and I wimped out and pretty much stopped taking pictures after the first couple of hours. But I did get enough to give an idea just how diverse the offerings are at this event...
Wacky, huh?
Need a project Mustang?
Or a pair of swivel buckets for your GM Colonnade coupe?
How about a nice early Malaise ride to go out and fight crime in style?
Some nice project material here... but not for my budget.
This made me sad for obvious reasons.
Party like it’s 1949.
This one went quick. The sign in the windshield says SOLD, and this was around 9:30 AM on the first full day of the show.
Just wow.
Yeah, wow.
Conquest for $7650. NPOCP?
This one really wanted to follow me home.
The guy saw me taking pictures of this Pontiac and dropped the price to $1900. Damn.
This is such a cool-looking car... the wheelcovers seem an indignity too great to bear.
At first glance, I chuckled at this, thinking it was a project gone awry. Then I looked closer and was duly impressed... apparently it got here under its own power AND pulled a trailer. There was a GPS connected to the lighter and the keys were in it.
Got a Gremlin X that needs a grille?
Or are you jonesing for a little two-wheel fun?
This may well be the coolest car toy I have ever seen. Seemed complete, too.
A vendor saw me snapping pictures of this ‘69 Firebird hood (OHC 6!) and offered me the bench seat from the same car. Bench seat in a Firebird? Interesting.
This guy had loads of Buick and Olds hardware...
... and a Crosley engine block. Go figure.
Because you never know, I guess.
Banana seat bikes happen to be my own personal kink.
Whether your decorating theme is ‘60s malt shop or Dark Knight, you’re covered at Carlisle.
Gawd, this was purty.
Low-mile IROC. NPOCP?
Jeep with a V6. Ya learn something new every day.
Even in its current state, there’s something majestic about this.
Need to cover a little wall space?
The color absolutely exploded off this thing. Pictures don’t do it justice.
Three-speed manual plus overdrive. Who knew?
NPOCP?
I utterly failed to get the price on this one. And yes, that’s another 911SC in that color.
Couple of Malaise cruisers that looked absolutely showroom perfect.
My camera phone washed out the interior and made the fabric look faded, but the red velour in this car was dark and deep and looked brand new.
Another learning experience for me.
Factory alloy wheels for a 280ZX? Vintage Pepsi clock? BEAR Headlight Tester? Check, check, and check.
Not sure what you would do with this...
...but I can think of a few really good uses for these.
Nice.
The yellow door got me wondering about the car it came off of... was it a road racer? Where did it run? Did it ever win?
This was purty too. Apparently today I have a thing for white Buicks.
I leave you with this. Imagine the possibilities...
(in case you were wondering, all I came home with is a Tyco HO scale Porsche slot car, a little Ziploc bag of slot car parts, and two Union 76 antenna balls...)

79 Ford Wagon with 5.4 Raptor swap (seriously)
2011 Ford Mustang 5.0 (I’m the boring one)
BaconSandwich is tasty.

Makes me wonder - how much would one of those project Mustangs go for, and how much does a Corvette engine go for?

The fact that this ‘64 got there under its own power pulling a trailer does *not* mean it isn’t a project gone awry. I’d say it’s gone full kookoobananas.

I know, right? I had to wonder what kind of rust I’d find if I crawled underneath, but still...
