Piggybacking off of R Saldana’s post, I looked local to me for a Disco and came up with this. 187k miles, says it’s in good condition with recent service. Even with the reputation, $2500 is chump change. But is it worth it?

190,000 mile LR Discovery?
I’ll pay you $2,500 to not put that in my driveway.

I have seen them for much less than that even. At least at 187K you know if it was going to need head gaskets, they would have gone already. Any light on on the dash for hill descent, transmission (gear with a wrench in it light) or check engine light you can quickly walk away
Or rust

Offer the guy $2000 and spend $5000 on rebuilding the engine.

Much like 7 series BMWs they are not a bad value if you know how to wrench on your own car....be cause you will be.. all the time. But some people like doing that.

If 4.0L walk and no locking transfer case offer $1k, if it has the 4.6L and no locking t-case offer $750. If he accepts neither, laugh in his face and then walk.
