Guys, I just over heard a conversation that went like this:
Person A: “So I just found out that I have to learn stick shift if I want to do the amazing race”
Person B: “Ugh.. sucks. Haven’t you been training for that for over 2 years now?”
Person A: “Yeah, but I don’t know what I’m going to do now..”
Person B: “It’s just, like.. cars. Just Google it. You’ll be fine”
Person A: “Yeah, true”
I’m over here thinking: “You’ve been training for two years and you can’t take an afternoon to figure out how to do the one skill that will take you the furthest the quickest?”

Agreed. That’s a guaranteed elimination or huge disadvantage if you can’t drive stick.

Hah! I bet he gets selected for the Race too.
They specifically pick conceded over confident people, that are fun to watch when their self image is shattered. The kind that think googling something is all they need to learn the skill.
I bet he googled how to swim and sky-dive too. You know, in preparation.

YouTube actually has some really good videos, but you can’t feel a clutch through videos

No, I know. That’s how I learned the basics of heel-n-toe. But I would never send someone into a nerve racking situation like a race, armed only with a 5 minute youtube video’s worth of knowledge on shifting, having never even felt an engagement point.

Haha, yeah. It’s a really good way to learn the basic idea and technique of it

It's not their car or clutch, who needs finesse, stick it at 3000 rpms and let the clutch out. Good enough!
