I had to go on a short road trip this past weekend to photograph a 50K trail/mountain ultra marathon. I was lead through some back country on the way there. Off the side of the this country highway was a fenced in yard with lots of no trespassing signs. So i was only able to snap a few pics from the fence. But there were some really cool cars sitting out here left to die and decay in a field. After walking the fence line, I noticed the property went much much much further back, into heavy brush and trees, and there were hundreds upon hundreds of cars stashed back there as well. I may have to convince myself out of driving back out there with some cash in hand looking for a new project! There was maybe 50-60 cars, with some hope of being revived, closer to the side of the hwy. And if I had to guess, 300+ in the back of the property that I couldn’t get to. What a cool place
This poor fella is almost gone:

This is a hard trim piece to find I think. Probably worth some big bucks. Beautiful photos by the way

Definitely some cool stuff out there. I thought about trying to get in touch with who ever owns the place and see if they could give me a tour. Thanks!

right on! I feel like it was my own little barn find in some sense. At first glance, they all look like piles of turd, but having started on a few (never finished) restores myself, many of these cars looked like it wouldnt be terrible to at least restomod. This was in Eastern KY. I definitely would like to go back and get some pics/story on this place

my girlfriends dad has something similar to this, if maybe the quantities aren’t as large. He would be crazy to find a stash like that. Probably buy a whole other piece of land to store it on too. 2 posts about some of the stuff he has laying around (his plan is to make Frankensteins out of all of them though):

If these are all beyond a regular restoration, they would be great for source parts for another Mad Max movie.

cool posts man! Love it. Maybe its all the movies ive seen growing up. But I have this really weird affinity to 40s and 50s era cars, and how it would be so awesome to have one, and take the family on a trip across the country in it.

ha. Yea. Definitely! Im not sure the intent of this guys collection. But it appears to me, that he puts the “nice” ones near the road, and leaves the worse off ones out in the pasture

ha none of these are going to make it for you. I like the design and messing with them to get them running again. I have done some pretty oddball roadtrips with my kids and 60’s whips, nothing older than that though. Maybe someday!
