Tempelhof. I’ve been meaning to write an article about that airport. I think they’ve torn it down.

My grand father flew in and out of Tempelhof during the Berlin airlift. It was quite a weird time and the Templehof Airport itself is an amazing story and piece of architecture.

It really is. The story of the Air Lift, and how it was operated, is fascinating. I hope they don’t tear Tempelhof down, but that’s a lot of really prime real estate.

Last I heard some were wanting to make it into an apartment complex while others wanted to make it into a co-operative for artists and historians but that was about two years ago. It would be a shame for such a piece of history (be it good or bad) go to waste and loose it.
