The S12 generation Nissan Silvia was sold in the USA as the Datsun 200SX because the Nissan and Silvia names were not acceptable over here for reasons nobody understands. The 200SX was available with a version of the VG30E V6 from the 300ZX/Maxima, but the coolest version has a the pizza box hood scoop and turbo inline-4.
Find this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! offered for $5,000 in Mesa, AZ. Tip from FuelTruck.
This !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! looks in great shape compared to most you’ve seen that have either been neglected by their owners or modified by the Fast’n’Furious crowd. This one looks like a creampuff and is only for sale because the current owner (in his own words:) sorta, kinda bought it without my wife’s permission - - I just couldn’t pass it up!!! Needless to say, that back fired on me. lol. LOL, indeed.
Under that Texas-sized hood scoop is a 1.8 liter CA18ET inline-4 that is turbocharged and non-intercooled to produce 135 horsepower and 141 ft-lbs of torque. It isn’t particularly powerful, but it makes a good match for the 2500-ish pound S12 rear-drive chassis.
On the inside we see a very well preserved dash, funky seat inserts and a very 80s dash board setup with idiot lights aimed at the passenger. The shifter sticks up like something you’d use to stir a witch’s pot and will provide you with hours of entertainment.
See a better cheap 80s classic? !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Dear god, all the 80s, it’s beautiful. The want is strong. I soo wish I was in the market for a car right now.

I mean, it’s good, and all, but I much prefer my ‘80s Pizza Box hood scoops to be offset.

This, on the other hand, is not suitable for pizza boxes. In fact, I’m not sure it isn’t a VHS return slot. (Yes, this is a factory scoop.)

I love these cars, and they have so much potential for badass engine swaps as well. The US version came with either the nonturbo CA20 engine or the turbo CA18ET as seen in the one in your ad. Since it’s a CA block that means a JDM CA18DET engine swap would be easy peasy, and those engines can be tuned up to some pretty respectable power figures.
Speaking of JDM, they actually came with a couple of pretty sweet engines installed- either the FJ20ET or CA18DET. I already mentioned the CA18DET but the FJ20ET can also be tuned for massive power output for its size.
JDM yo.
And then in the US market, they also had a pretty neat mashup- the 1987-88 200SX SE.
This one came with the VG30E engine out of the Z31 300ZX, good for about 170hp. The fire-breathing VG30DETT in the Z32 300ZX Twin Turbo is an evolution of this engine and should fit into the engine bay to replace the stock VG30E fairly well, though you may have to get creative with the turbo/intercooler plumbing.
Or you can go totally balls-out and cram an RB26DET out of a Skyline GT-R in there, but that’s not a swap for the faint of heart.
Fack I want one of these cars.

He should put his wife up on CL instead.

Augh, I’d love to have that car! Always thought the 200SX turbo was gorgeous... and this one is mint! I’d mod the hell out of it (the motor only; keep it otherwise stock) and make it a super sleeper.

I you want to keep that engine keep it stock, their reliability craters into nothingness with any power mods. It’s also quite bit slower than the V6 but it does look cooler IMO. My dad had a V6 one of these back in the day and it was extremely fun.
I would get a V6 one and do bolt on mods, possibly even cams, on it and use it for autocross or something. Probably would be good and reliable fun.
