Maybe they’re the same car for you, that’s fine.

When I say “Best,” I mean, if you were a professor of automotive interior design, what would you show your students and say, “THIS is how it’s done.” Then favorite of course is what you’d want to have above all else, as irrational as it may be.

I’d say Best is a Rolls-Royce Phantom. The floormats alone are comfier than some carpets in people’s houses.

Favorite though is the TVR Tuscan. Any car that allows you to spec purple shag carpet is A-OK in my book!

What about yours Oppo?

The Honda Fit has a very spacious interior. Not as glamorous as a Rolls-Royce interior, but it’s still a very good interior, in terms of how much space they were given initially.

For me, the best interior is the kind where everything is angled to the driver's sight lines. Like the Supra, Corvette, and even Chevy trucks.

What are your thoughts on the interior of the i8? Some reviews I’ve read suggest it’s rather plain compared to the i3.

When i’m thinking about automotive interior design it’s hard for me to look past a modern day Volvo, say a 2012 V70. It’s comfortable, very comfortable even, it’s ergonomic and it does this while including all of the equipment necessary in a classy vehicle. And looks the part too.

My fave? That’s a lot harder. I like Volvo interiors, i really do, but your point with the Rolls-Royce is a good one too. And there are a ton of other very good places to spend time in. And then, there’s this:

Or this:

And there are so many others......

I’m going to give the best to the new Ram’s, because they come with not one, but two hidden six pack sized coolers.

New car...I have to say I have been impressed with Buick interiors lately.

For old school...just pick a British car.

I haven’t been in one but I’d agree on that design wise. Just seems more safe imo.

First time I saw the i3 interior I was like “shit thats nice”, vs when I saw the i8 interior “so its a BMW take on the R8 interior”.

The 2 best interiors are:

The Bentley Mulsanne

And the Mercedes S65 Coupe

My favourite interior would have to be the Pagani Huayra.

Such a unique and cool looking interior.

You raise a very good point! Have you seen the interior on the new XC90? Utterly fabulous. The little Swedish flag stitched on the seat tag is such a nice touch; makes you realize they put some extra care into its production.

I think the Toyobaru interiors set the right mood and appear to be quite colorful, but every review I’ve read said that they feel cheap ;_;

Haha there are two posts that contain both Mercedes-Benz and Pagani! I’d say they’ve done well for themselves!

The FR-S/BRZ interior is a fairly solid design, but as you read, the material quality is fairly low. A leather-wrapped dash and less silver-painted plastic trim would go a long way in the car.

Yes, the Toyobaru dash is mostly of hard plastic, but because this is supposed to be a bare-bones, lightweight vehicle, i thought it fitted well. And the proportions and placements are very good, that’s why I would include it here.

Although it has to be said i generally like plain but sporty Japanese interiors. Like the Lancer sports dash, which is almost the same in an Evo and in a normal wagon with the Sports option package.

Back at Volvo, i didn’t try the new XC90 myself yet, that’s why i didn’t mention it but yes, it looks excellent.

I’ve discovered a love for old school interiors. They’re just so simple and elegant in contrast to ‘90s button mania or the current obsession with touch screens. The wood grain is less 1970s basement and more 1940s parlor, the gauges are limited to the necessities (ie: speed and fuel), no massive pillars blocking your view, and an absence of useless toys to take your eyes off the road. It’s just so refreshingly clean.
