The National Hot Rods are essentially spaceframe compacts powered by naturally aspirated two-litre four cylinders, which produce about 250 horsepower, which is transmitted to the rear wheels, regardless of bodyshell. They’re the highest level of non-contact oval racing in the UK.
This is the 1988 World Final, held at the Foxhall Stadium in Ipswich, Suffolk, England. It’s sopping wet(something you can kinda do on flat short ovals), and it also includes an in-race reporter!
As an American, I find the UK short oval culture absolutely fascinating. HATE banger racing, the Hot Rods are incredible, and the F1 StockCars are ridiculous and insane.
