Replacement dash - glass or no glass?

Turns out my gauges are borked on my old cluster. The temp gauge failed to go anywhere and my fuel gauge got to half way- then stopped. “Why is my low fuel light on when I have half a tank? Oh well I’ll add some gas to see if it’s a stuck sensor. 13 and a 1/2 gallons... I’m pretty sure I don’t have a 28 gallon tank...”

Don’t worry, my original dash will be donating some black and orange needles to get rid of those ugly gray ones. I’m currently waiting for my new bulbs (white face w/blue bulb) to arrive but it leaves me quandering : should I pop the glass off the shroud? Not sure why but it just seems like it would be interesting to have “exposed gauges”

Thoughts?

I figured the Stringbean was just being overly cautious.

I say try it without the glass. Those needles get exposed to dirt/dust/etc though.

I may have to keep a can of duster on hand or a James May approved interior detailing brush.
