Because there's a small voice calling you to correct Mitsubishi's mistake and swap in an Evo X drivetrain.

There was a lot of hype from Mitsubishi about the 4g. I think it's failure really hurt it.

I think I'm in the minority, but I also thought this car looked pretty good, especially for it's time, though it still seems to hold up now, at least as something funky and different. But the lack of decent engine options ruined it for me.

Those later Eclipses weren't and aren't bad cars. They just weren't as "sporty" as they claimed to be.

they are awesome to look at. I recall they were wider than a Ford explorer and that made them look amazing. I think they may have sold better if they dropped the eclipse name that they had destroyed with the two proceeding generations. also the 4 cylinder wasn’t enough for the Outlander let alone a sports car. Lastly that face lift did not come in time to help push sales.
