The Mitsubishi Mirage gets no love around these parts, mainly because it's considered to be a bit of a piece of shit. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE. TWO MORE SHAM WOWS FOR THE PRICE OF ONE!!!

Kinja'd!!!

Here's the thing though. Where else can you get a brand new car with good gas mileage, a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty and basic amenities such as wheels, windows, Bluetooth, seats and a steering wheel? It's a good car for somebody who wants a new car and doesn't want to pay for maintenance, but is running on a strict budget. $9,292 is all it takes. I'm not going to discredit the Mirage any more than I already have, since even though it's more of less a piece of garbage, I understands it's purpose now. It's cheap, basic transportation. That's all.

Disclaimer: I still don't like and still would never buy a Mirage, but I now know and understand it's place in the car food chain.

I like its purpose and what it represents, but the execution could be better.

Still, I don't want Mitsubishi to die.

I honestly think it's a suitable car for what it is. So what if the driving dynamics are bad? It's not exactly marketed to enthusiasts.

I hope that Mitsubishi stays afloat though, the cost cutting in the Evo by putting the base model Lancer seats in it was not a good sign though. They just need to bring the Wanker...... Er Pajero back.

Mirage Evo needs to happen. Then the Mirage will be the new FiST.

Where are getting that 9k pricing? The Nissan Versa is the cheapest possible new vehicle and that is over $12,000.

Look at the link that says "Read more cars.com" that was a Kinja thing but it's still there. Dealerships are putting pretty sizable cuts on the prices.

For $9000 they're awesome. For MSRP it's CP.

Plus, the Mirage is available in some awesome colors. I just wish you could get a sunroof.

My fault didnt even notice. I still cant wrap my head around this being the only car someone owns though. Its oddly enough more like a Viper in that it makes sense as a third or fourth vehicle.

This is the '90s car that car enthusiasts on the internet circlejerk to, but (like everything else) won't actually buy with their own money.

... So confused.

A friend in college bought a 5-speed one with alloys - a brand new '96 in mid-1997. He got it cheap because for some reason it was not very popular despite the fact that it was the mid 1990s.

because a 2005 hyundai can be bought for a 1/3 of the price and is just as reliable/cheap to run. dont think you need a warranty on a econobox cuz you wont at least for a while. so why buy a shitty new car when you can get basically the same thing on the used market for 3-5k. Imo buying a new car from either the very top of the spectrum e.g. s class or the very bottom e.g. mirage makes no sense at all. Buying new anywhere in the middle makes sense. very exact science i assure you
