Especially because Jeep thought it necessary to have to remove the hub every time you needed to replace the rotors.

Wait, it has discs that aren't a conversion? Are they burgled from a more modern Jeep? I don't recall, so I has confuse. Does that setup require pressing out the studs? The setup on a 4wd 1500 Suburban from the 80s does, and with the auto hubs that you have to take apart... FMR, but it's a pain.

Wow.

That's pretty insane.

I guess you better just give it to me so you don't have to bother anymore.

That looks to be an impressive pain in the ass. Also, it looks like you have a pretty clean machine there. Got more pics?

It has a Dana 30 from an early CJ5, and the 1978 disc brakes bolt right on as long as you have the right hubs, so yeah, it was burgled/converted from the old drums with OE parts. It does require pressing out and then back in the studs. Hooray me!

/fuck

It only looks clean because that pic is from years ago when I did the disc brake conversion. Here's another old one:

The "correct" way to convert the Ranchero to discs up front would be to get either very rare/expensive new '65/etc. Mustang V8 spindles and steering links and calipers and wheel bearings and ball joints and so on and an assortment of other mix'n'match parts, or to combine several available Grenada and Maverick and so on parts with a more differenter set of calipers, and then bodge it all together for multiple thousands of dollars, which would leave me with hub rotors I'd have to disassemble completely and move bearings on every time I needed to replace them.

Kinja'd!!!

Fuck the "correct" way, the Scarebird kit is less appalling and stupid.

There's got to be a cheaper way to do it, because all that sounds like a bunch of"no thanks".

Yeah, but I've got it figured out differently - no need for Mustang II. Scarebird's kit combined with my dirt cheap Mustang-equivalent parts from CJ Pony has me covered.

Thankee. It's a 302 Ford V8. It was a mud racer in Kentucky during the 70s and 80s and retired about 25 years ago. I restored it and now let it drip oil onto my garage floor.

That's a nice compact engine. perfect for an old Jeep. Well done, good sir.

Also, pretty sure all Jeeps drip, regardless of what engine they have. I rebuilt an old Mercedes diesel to replace my tired 4.0. It's sitting on the engine stand right now... already leaking a little. Brand new gaskets. I think it's just getting psyched up.

I wish I had a picture for you. A old friend of my dad's has 4 Willys that he has restored sitting in a large metal shed behind his house. One is a WW2 Jeep model. The one that sits next to it is newer but still looks a lot like the other. The other two are pickup and station wagon models. I've been told stories of him and the rest of their friends picking up women and copious amounts of beer with the wagon while they were at spring break back in the day.

Very cool. All my Willys has been able to pick up is middle-aged men, which is not the demographic I was looking for.

I'll be sure to snag some pics next time im there. Its a shame because his 2 sons couldn't care less that stuff. Meanwhile my brother and i would have killed to work on his because we use to live super close to them before i was born.
