I'm rapidly running out of reasons not to buy one. It wouldn't even be the most complicated/expensive-to-maintain car I've owned. It seems like, with some looking, a 50k-90k mile example can be had for $15k. Are they done depreciating, or do they have further to drop? I don't see them being less than $10k cars. I'm really thinking about saving for a year and buying one when I turn 25 and my insurance rates drop.

You might as well go for it. It is after all an Italian beauty. Or a Corvette those might be more fun

Not done depreciating at all. Except for the repair costs, that is.

Just watch out for the 3,000-5,000 miles clutch. Which apparently applies to F1 gearbox equipped cars mainly but also 6 speed MT ones.

Brake jobs and simple stuff can also impact your wallet,

But fuck all that garbage. Do it anyways.

These cars are pretty cool, and much smaller than they look in pictures. Sound good too. If you buy one, and it somehow has this doorguard thing on it, for the love of God take it off immediately. (I used to see this more often, these should be removed before delivery of a car—and yet you seee people keeping them on, used to be they'd use ugly black rubber ones to stop the door from getting damaged while being shipped. And misguided people still left them on, for months / years, no matter how terrible it looked.) I'm trying to figure out why this car was parked like this for the photo, across a handicapped spot and a regular spot, to get this nondescript / ugly building as a backdrop. Bergen County, NJ—-police? County coroner's office?

Looks like they run 20-25k which isn't bad! I guess in a year or two they'll be more like 20k

Man this or a 996? what a wonderful conundrum!

And I mean...11k miles? Come on now buddy.

Its a great deal on a wonderful sounding engine. However you might want to google "spyder cowl shake" to see if that is something that concerns you. I considered these but ultimately got a bargain 997.

Indeed you are. Now we know where, and that this is "the tri-state area's premier luxury pre-owned dealership" according to their website. They have some interesting stuff. I still don't get why one would shoot a car in that spot. Even the giant green blob in the foreground of the Google maps pic would be a better backdrop, and if the point was to show where to see it, they failed except for folks like you with superior Googling skills.

Well, I'm already at 15,000 mile timing belt/water pump intervals for my Alfa and the tensioner alone is close to $300 so...bring it on! :D

Good to know. I'd definitely be using it more for a cruiser / GT car so frankly even if it handled rather poorly it wouldn't be a huge cocnern to me. It will give me an excuse to keep my Alfa for carving up the twisties!

I've thought about a 996 too, but I've always been drawn to the Italian cars and my 912 satisfies most of my Porsche cravings :D
