So the Land Rover is a horrible idea... That's been established. On a completely different train of thought, what's the best thing to replace an 80's Volvo with? A 70's Volvo!
This is for sale in my area and I'm mighty tempted to look at it.

I'm used to driving a hobbled together 85 with the non-turbo 2.3 in it so I think I could acclimate.
I think I'm going to go look at this thing this weekend.

yeah my one and only 2.1 was a slushbox but it was still fun and bulletproof. good luck! I love the 76 grille and front end

hopefully there is still vinyl under those sheepskins. The back seat looks fantastic, hoping the fronts were just protected by that. Red on red is a great color scheme. Speedo fix is a 10 dollar kit and about 45 minutes worth of work.

Even if the seats are shot, I have a spare entire car currently with lots of decent interior bits. Not to mention that I have some skills, skills that are good for things like that(I can sew).
This thing is really not looking like that bad of a deal, I just emailed him, we'll see if it's still available.

I loved my old '79, but it was slooooow. I don't drive fast, and am willing to trade speed for reliability so it was great.

Double Rounds! Those headlights are awesome! I love the blue too. My current Volvo(that will going away at the end of the week) has been somewhat of a pile of crap since I bought it, so it's been through a lot of ill advised(and mostly drunk) decisions. If I get one in good shape from the beginning it WILL stay nice.
