Kinja'd!!!

In the sixth installment of my series on Brazilian Market cars I present you the Peugeot 208, a small premium-ish compact car aimed for young buyers and first-time car owners.

This might be one of the only cheap small cars I'd consider owning for city driving duties, it is small, nice to drive and the interior puts some larger (Asian) cars to shame. But then again, I could buy a Peugeot 607 with electrical problems for the same price, and I'd rather have that.

Kinja'd!!!

It has a properly nice glass roof, and nicely built interior.

Kinja'd!!!

Quality materials all round and quite a nice package of standard items like dual-zone AC, the glass sunroof, paddle-shifters, parking sensors etc.

Kinja'd!!!

One of the best Multimedia systems I have ever come across, both in functionality and appearance and also in the way it was included in the dash design. The speakers are great and it feels nice to the touch.

Kinja'd!!!

The steering wheel is nice and chunky and the dash is easy to read, miles better than the comparable and platform shared Citroen C3.

Kinja'd!!!

The Citroen C3 looks like shit.

Kinja'd!!!

The only good engine available is a 1.6 120hp(NOT TURBO, WHY PSA WHY? YOU HAVE THE THP ENGINE) and it probably is quite slow and quite peppy and still boring blah blah blah.

Kinja'd!!!

The AT gearbox is the same 4-speed (WHY?) that I have in both my Citroens, they probably don't work very well just like they don't work well on my cars.

Kinja'd!!!

The only version worth having is worth around $20,000 and I can't think of a better small new car to buy for that kind of money. The rest is either too cheaply made or just shit.

Dear god the difference between the 208 and the C3 is night and day. The 208 looking really nice and thought out and the C3 being one I'd only look at in the dark with the interior lights off.

Is the Peugeot 208 just landing on your shores as we've had this car since 2012 in Europe and it doesn't look like it's had a facelift yet.

The three door GTi looks fantastic.

We got it last year I think, they haven't been here for long. The GTi looks fantastic but we don't get them here.

The DS3 looks a bit better, but the 208 has the best small car interior, everything looks and feels premium.

The C3 is out on it's own playing in a sand pit, while I can't decide which of the DS3 and the 208 to pick.

The DS3 looks nicer on the outside and the 208 has the better interior. I'd probably go with the DS because Citroen.

Are automatics a big thing in Brazil? In Europe an automatic 208 is a rare sight.

This is the most controversial bit of the 208, instruments that are only visible above the wheel. Many hate them.

How do you armor that glass roof?

Same way you armor the other glass bits I think.

I think so, most cars are automatic or don't even have a manual option.

Yep, I was at a Pug dealer yesterday and the 3 door 208 GT(i) and the new 308 GT(i) are very drool worthy indeed...
