!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! (thanks, Opponauts!), my wife as agreed to extend the sell-by-date of the Volvo by another week.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I may still move it to my work's parking lot for temporary storage if that will get me some more time, presuming they'll allow it. Otherwise I may leave it in the street.

Someone tells me I have to sell a car and I will either talk them out of it or I start looking for a way to end that relationship - so it must be love on your end.
If you own a house but do not own a truck, you are getting rid of a car that many people consider to be a work truck. I would keep it tucked away for a rainy day. For what that thing is worth on the market it wouldnt be worth getting rid of. Put the seats down in the back and let it work for you. Poor thing

How is this not on NP/CP? I'm drooling. Does it not run (I read one earlier article, but can't dive further atm).

Why the arbitrary "it must be gone by ____ date" requirement? If you really agree that it needs to be sold, then might as well just work towards getting it sold for a price you like, date be damned?
I have slightly similar struggles with my gf complaining about car stuff taking up space in our garage. Floor jack, extra tires, tools, etc. But then I remind her that she has 7 bigass boxes of nothing but Christmas decorations.

Bring it to O'Fallon, MO. I can do an extended test drive. My car usually sits at my work lot anyway because I drive work trucks.

Starts, runs, drives, hangs with other cars on the highway and twisty back roads. and has been a ton of fun and a dear friend. It's been my daily driver since August 2007 until last Friday when I got the Mazda.
It leaks and burns a bit of oil, and has other issues from being a quarter century old (this actual month, per the build plate). But those are personality traits, adorable little quirks that keep the ownership experience engaging and unusual, rather than beige and boring.
Sadly, my wife - and her parents, who come by weekly or more - find it to be an eyesore, while I find it to be a well-loved objet d'art . It's mine, and, being paid off, cheap to insure and tax, and road-legal, I'm fully inclined to keep it, but to keep the family harmony I'm (reluctantly) willing to sacrifice it to a good home, or, really, any home at this point.

I'd be happy to! Volvo760turbo@outlook.com or the phone number in the CL ad.

I'd love to, but I have a smallish driveway, a garage that's filled to capacity, and my wife doesn't or won't accept any of the justifications for keeping it, as the Mazda is reliable and comfortable, and my FIL, dad, and brothers all have trucks when we have the rare need to move larger items. The car could just sit and it'd cost less than $100 over the next eighteen months with just liability insurance and property tax. However it's unlikely to gain or lose too much value in that time, and being driven as rarely as it would be it would probably degrade and more parts - hoses, belts, tires - would need replacement from semi-neglect.

My original intent was to keep the price close to where I wanted for several months and lower it closer to back-to-school season if there wasn't the demand I wanted. Mrs. BoxRocket is of the opinion - likely accurate - that I'd hold into it nearly forever for not finding "the right buyer".

Saint Louis, MO, arguably the Midwestern Volvo Mecca.
It's not so much about finding interested buyers (of which there have been over 250 as of 6pm today), it's finding buyers who have the money to buy and the commitment to follow through. I have two folks who have driven the car and are waiting on their tax return checks, but I'm not holding my breath.

Man, you are only 2 hours south of me. I wish I had the scratch atm. :/ I'm still waiting for my CPA to tell me whether I owe or I get a check.
Edit: my step-sister and family live in STL. If you are related to me by marriage, I will scream lol

There seems to be plenty of middle ground between your idea and hers.
I have a feeling she gave you this ultimatum because frankly, your plan is unrealistic. It doesn't really make sense if you're trying to sell a cheap old car to hold out for months and months over what will amount to maybe a couple hundred bucks.
But certainly if you post it and spend a few weeks showing it to people until you get at least a better offer over the one you have now, that would be reasonable, right?
Why not talk to her and say you understand your original plan is likely unrealistic, but you want to spend at least a bit of time (without some arbitrarily-decided "sell-by" date) trying to get a better offer than the one you have from the shop?

2 hours? Are you up in Iowa?
Have them buy you the car and come pick it up. What is family for if not for borrowing favors?

That's pretty much where we've been since we decided to buy the Mazda. I had in mind to sell it - at most - over the course of a few months, her a couple weeks. After I washed and vacuumed the Volvo I took it around to some local Volvo Club members who had previously expressed interest, as well as a few Volvo shops and the nearest Volvo dealership to me (there's two more farther away in the Metro area) to drum up and gauge interest and get an understanding of a realistic asking price. Obviously the shops were low-ball, but solid offers. The Club members were interested, but none had the cash readily available. So I then made the Craigslist ad, and posted it here, the local Volvo Club Facebook page, and a few others. I'd rather the car be at its new home sooner rather than later.

It had to be one of those two. 2 hours away would put you, what, somewhere between Quincy and Peoria?

A little farther east. :) Above Effingham.
