Three things:
1. The boss has decided I cannot have the 2 days off I requested for the upcoming Tudor round at Laguna, an event which I have been attending in some form or another, always from Thursday-Sunday, since 1997. I have 2 friends coming from out of state for this, one from clear across the damn country who has already booked his flight, and I paid for my campsites months ago. I've worked here since 1996, and have only used my 10 days of vacation time once that I can remember.
2. The boss has asked myself and a coworker to reduce the not unreasonable number of Hot Wheels on our desks. No one has complained about this, in fact it's elicited complements from customers. Nor does it affect our productivity whatsoever. In fact, I smoke the owner in every measurable metric. Oh, and his desk looks like a bomb went off. My coworker & I both hate our jobs, and those tiny cars are about the only things we derive any joy from here. So I have 10ish VW & Porsche Hot Wheels on my desk at a German car shop. Big deal. This a stupid small point, I admit. But come on, man. Don't take away life's little joys.
3. My wife said this morning that she likes minivans, and that we should look for one to replace her 325iT. I'm actually not totally put off by this, as our family is growing and it would make her life easier, which I'm all for. And she lets me do pretty much whatever I want with cars as long as it doesn't break the bank (see: Fairlane). But still... a little part of me is dying inside.
So...
Aaannnd my minivan shopping list thus far is as follows:
1. Mazda5
2. Mazda5
3. Mazda5
Also, if I have to hear one more fucking Journey song today I might actually kill someone.
Also also, the power spiked while I was writing this, wiping it out once. But I was not deterred!
I'll put strychnine in the guacamole.

Clearly your boss is a dick, does not deserve nice things, and you need to get yourself a different jerb.

Actually, I forgot all about that. I can't afford new, but worth looking at. Doesn't look too bad, really.

"My coworker & I both hate our jobs"
If you use the word "hate" and "job" in the same sentence it may be time to move on.

I've been cultivating other options since late last year, actually. Something is going to change.

That's all I needed to hear, and then it got even worse... time to rampage my friend, not a soul would find you guilty!

But as far as I know the Mazda 5 never came with power sliding doors. This can be a deal breaker for some, not sure about your wife.

Troll him and line your desk with Lexus and Toyotas instead?

We both grew up with VW vans (me more than her) so that's not a problem at all, fortunately.

Then I can't see any reason why the 5 wouldn't work. Manual transmission?

If I can find one, she's perfectly happy with a manual.

I like them, a lot. But new isn't an option financially for the time being.

Don't quit.. Make them "sunset" you. Unemployment isn't great but it's something.

We'll see. The owner really needs to retire, or tell me exactly what he thinks is going to happen in the future.
