Interesting interiors? Well, here you go. From the late 80's to the late 90's Renault decided to offer luxurious interiors in almost all of their models. This luxury trim was called Baccara.

Renault 5 (the 2nd gen, stop dreaming about luxury LeCars).

Baccara trim was also available for Laguna, Safrane and 19.

Renault still do the best interiors for the money in my opinion. Build quality isn't as good as most, but every car they make (besides the Twizy) is really comfortable.

I can't say I'm a fan of the enormous airbags in the wheel on modern ones.

Very interesting, especially because very few were sold and even fewer survived knowing Renault's quality back then. Ultimate 'Baccara' was the Safrane Baccara Biturbo with it's 4wd 262hp V6.

They are pretty large, can't say it bothers me too much though.

That Cyclopean look is, er, challenging to put it mildly.

Today's top tip: if you're buying a new car from a downmarket maker, never go for fancy names and trim levels. The second-hand market doesn't care what kind of trim it is, a Renault or whatever is still just a Renault.

I like it but it is an unusual interior. Having the speedo in the centre allows the other half to complain a lot more often about my speed too. I don't have the rev counter behind the wheel either, in fact I don't have one at all.

The new Twingo is definitely much nicer, I was looking around one while I was waiting to sign the paperwork for mine. Definitely a car I'd be interested in buying one day, especially if they make an RS version.

Saying that my Twingo has a nicer interior than most in the price range. The Citroen C1 for example, was pretty nasty. I didn't even get to the test drive in one of those, took one look around it and decided I didn't like it.

Do you make every purchase with an eye on resale? What if someone just wants to drive a comfortable renault?
