A great friend of mine is looking to getting into karting and would love to buy a 125cc TaG kart. He has found a few decent ones within a few hour drive of his home in Jacksonville Florida, but would love to see if the OPPO community can find anything he's overlooking, or if anyone has any great advice as far as getting into karting. Anything from Miami to Charlotte is doable, but obviously the closer the better. He has a hard budget of $3000, and would prefer a kart that is currently in running condition though he is willing to do some work or have some work done on it if there is a less expensive option out there. All feedback is appreciated, thanks! Have a kart for your time. :)

I am said friend, I'm am not looking to compete at that level currently, I was going to buy a kart with a parilla leopard 125cc, my local track has local monthly races with an open 125cc class, and I'm not so concerned with having the fastest kart out there.

Yeah 125cc is a bit "broad" though... To give you an idea, this is a 125cc kart (myself... shameless plug lol)

but so is this...

And they are totally different animals lol

I would suggest you get a rotax max (a normal one, not a junior like in the video) instead... it's the most raced gokart around and it's pretty much as fast as the one you are looking for. They go used from 1000 to 1500$ and can go up to 3000 for very good looking ones...

You can then choose to race it pretty much anywhere you want in any country even :)

A much wider use compared to what you're looking for. You may not care right now, but if you start racing more seriously, you'll be happy to already have the correct kart and not have to change it.

Understood, thats why I was trying to get input. Just having a hard time finding a specific kart to pull the trigger on in my area.

I think there are a couple for sale around here (Just north of CLT). There's some flyers at GoPro Motorplex for them. I know that Ocala has one hell of a track over there, someone around there might have something. Either craigslist or going to a track and seeing if there are any flyers seems to be about the best way to do it.
