While the gremlins might be gone, I wouldn't call weekly total transmission failure more reliable. Seriously, unless that 4L60 is completely built, it will die at least twice a year if the car is driven once a week. Ours couldn't handle 270hp/275ft.lbs. for 40k miles(wasn't isolated, second factory trans went at 80k), so I'm positive this won't be able to handle the fuckloads of torque that set-up has.

See, I've worked on LSx engines for almost 10 years, and never had I heard of one smaller than the 5.3 Learn something new every day...

I guess it helps that I avoid all vehicles matching that list.

If those wheels were 2 in smaller, they would look great.

I question the need for a custom turbo setup. LS upgrades are pretty cheap.

All iron at that size.

I'm looking for a 5.3 aluminum version (usually a trailblazer ss) to swap into an import.

I think the turbo is to make up for the lack of displacement?

Most LS mods swap easily.

Maybe it would be better with one of the newer, plentiful GM autos?

You can settle for the RPO LM7 5.3. It's a cast iron block with aluminum heads and cheaper than the SS block.

I'm scheming this toward a 87 Conquest with a massive turbo 4. For the sake a vanity and front spring rate, i would love the LS to come in close to the same weight. All aluminum, i think i can do it.

I would also dump the recirculating ball box for rack and pinion so i just might pull it off.

You're not really tacking on mass with the ls. A bmw inline six weighs more than a ls motor for example. You could turbo the 5.3 and it won't complain.

I can agrer with you on weight, but custom turbo (especially this custom turbo) looks a lot like vanity.
