I'm still debating if this is a win or a lose. On one hand, I burned things, on the other, it was a house-owning chore. Mmmm, I'll say it's a draw.

not a draw, you mad because you didn't drink enough beer while burning stuff. That is the best part about it.

Did you enjoy burning stuff? If the answer is yes then it's not a chore, burning shit is good. Fire restrictions have just been lifted for this year here so I'll be burning shit soon.

The worst part was making sure everything burned. after all the leaves were gone, I spent an hour shifting the ashes because only the leaves on top burned.

Since I'm in the country, we have no recycling or pickup for grass clippings or leaves. So I have to burn it all. And I do enjoy burning things, but when I have to watch the fire to make sure it doesn't spread, that sometimes takes the fun out of it.

Yeah, I'm also in the country so I know what you mean. I run a business from home as well so every few months there's a pile of big shipping pallets(8' x 4') that makes a great spectacle when on fire.

Ha, I wonder if I have restrictions then? I just know that no one picks it up, so there's no other way to get rid of it.
We got more to burn too. Yesterday we did the front yard, today we did the side yard; next Saturday we have the whole backyard, which is larger then both the other yards.

diesel fuel makes sure everything burns!

I learned the hard way gasoline is a poor choice. Put it across a unlit campfire, put a small flame near it, then *BOOM*, fireball. I didn't lose any eyebrows, but I lost more hair on my hand then I cared to. It was afterwards that I realized 'oh yeah, the fumes are flammable...'. Never again... :/

That's a lot of leaves! Luckily most of our native trees don't drop leaves. I do have some deciduous trees but I never pick up the leaves, just let the mower deal with them. We just have the restrictions over summer for the bushfire season here in Oz, and no burning off on Sunday's now.

Many years ago, when I was at high school, a mate of mine who was/is a pyromaniac tipped petrol on a fire. Of course the fuel became a fire ball that flared up and it singed his hair pretty bad. It wasn't until the next morning when he got up that found he couldn't open his eyes properly. He calls to his mum, "I'm blind, I'm blind" panicking that he has ruined his eyesight. When she has a look at his eyes she noticed that his eyelashes were singed and during the night had become stuck together like Velcro! He just couldn't get them open! I had sore guts from laughing so hard when he told me.

Ha, that's a good one! I was trying to light a fire cuz we had guests over, and they wanted s'mores. They were in the house doing something else. After the fireball, I just stood there in shock, replaying in my head what just went wrong. I mistakening waved for my wife to come outside, and told her what happened. I got chewed out promptly for it. Thankfully her younger sister thought my mistake was funny, :).

Yeah we got trees on all four sides, with the south and west having the most. We've only done north and east so far.
And I still need to get my mower alive. I'll need to make another post another that. For some reason it won't turn over. Battery is good I think. When I was reconnecting the battery to the mower, it kept sparking because of metal pieces in small places, so I think that means it's good...
