If I ever become ludicrously wealthy, my second order of business after a massive car collection will be to buy an example of the most beautiful plane ever made, the Lockheed Constellation, restore it, and retrofit the interior to that of a tasteful luxury private plane. Also, I think the name Lockheed Constellation is to plane names what Jensen Interceptor is to car names. It just works.

Love the Connie. I've seen a few in person, but it's been many years. Absolutely gorgeous aircraft.

I don't think it was amphibious.

I just got the opportunity to see one a few weeks ago, which I will show hopefully within the next few days. It's an incredible aircraft.

True, but if you're only flying you around, the Bellanca Crusair or Cruismaster makes more sense.

Back in the late '40s/early '50s, my father used to fly those, either for TWA or for Panagra (Pan American/Grace in Latin America). My guess would be TWA, since I know he used to fly DC-3s for Panagra out of Quito, Ecuador.

When I heard this song, at first I thought they were singing about the plane. They're not but listen to it anyway, what a good song! Maybe in a sense it is about the plane after all.
