Yeah, I tried not to follow the Jalopnik hive-mind with this one. Frankly, the Camry is the one I'd buy. Far more reliable.

Hi, welcome to 2015. The only "unreliable" car on the list would be MAYBE the Passat. Cars aren't unreliable anymore unless they're German or exotic and even that's a stretch now.

That's warped logic. Cars aren't built to last forever. Some require more TLC, some less. Toyota has been the king of the hill in terms of reliability for a long time.

This list is all wrong. You think a Toyota is better than an Mercedes? You didn't even rank them. You're dumb and wrong. Worst list ever. Mazda6 FTW.

My impression of the FP comments. Did I do it right?

What about the new Chrysler 200? I think it looks good and has great options. Chrysler isn't pseudo luxury anymore, they're supposed to compete with Chevy/Honda/Etc.

Kinja'd!!! TheHondaBro > wunderwagen wants a longer roof

I think of Chrysler as being in sub-luxury, competing with Acura and Buick.

Well, it was quite easy. I threw in the Mercedes part to prove I just skimmed and didn't read the post. Then threw in blind mazda support. I own a 3 and love it but have no experience with the 6. In fact I haven't been inside or driven any of these cars.

On the other hand, when did you start working for Consumer Reports?

And Toyota. Or at least up until the acceleration debacle. The idea is, the Camry is kind of an appliance. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but usually enthusiasts avoid appliance cars.

I can understand that, they now have very superior interiors to all of these brands imo. Even the base models have ridiculously nice interiors compared to what they used to be. And the old 200/Avenger is dead!

I rented a '16 Mazda 6 and a '16 Sonata and I think they are very close. As for drivetrain and handling they are about the same. Both averaged over 30 mpg.

Kinja'd!!!

I thought the '6 seats were superior. However the '6 infotainment display would be a deal killer for me.

- If you turn on headlights in daytime such as in rain, its so dim that you can't read it

- Every time you turn the engine off, it resets to the home screen which is shows the arc of options. So, need to change a station, you need to select tuning and then select station. PITA.

I apologize if there is a way to set defaults that I did not find. I hope there is as we are considering the new Mazda 3.

Here's a suggestion, I wish there was a way for me to select the info "tiles" I want on screen, that would be cool. Come on Mazda, if your going to make us buy the screen, at least make allow us to select what combination of stuff we want to see as default.

Toyota only has "reliability" because they've been using old tech far beyond its usefulness, and getting away with it, because they're Toyota. They still offer FOUR SPEED AUTOMATICS. FOUR. My 25-year-old Volvo has as many forward gears! If Volvo kept making the Redblock I4 as long as Toyota's been making the 1.8 and 2.2/2.4L I4s they'd be considered the "most reliable" luxury car maker.

Toyota's infotainment system offering is awful for such a mainstream vehicle.

When even Honda/Acura is offering more than 6 gears, it's time for Toyota to step up. And fire most of the design department (for both Toyota and Honda).

Google nissan altima cvt failure. The 2013+ are eating them like candy and Nissan doesn't know how to fix. Mine was bought back as a lemon, as were many many others.

That's a weird perception. Have you checked out selling prices on the 200? In terms of what everything on the list actually goes for, the 200 is mixing it up with the Nissan and Kia for least expensive on the list. They start at a hair over $16,000 and fully loaded (V6, leather, nav, etc) you can get out the door for $25,000. The MSRP FCA slaps on it puts it near Buick, but they sell for $7000 under whereas most of the class is much closer. Besides maybe Nissans which they have to discount because everyone is scared of the CVT's blowing up. Meanwhile you'd be hard pressed to get more than a $2500 discount on an Accord.
