Explain why I never heard of it then, the car never was for sale in north america. surprised the wikipedia article on it mentions mighty car mods in the popular culture section. MCM is huge now! It was a totally different story when I started watching them years ago, now I barely have time for youtube...I should get some sleep, I'm getting off topic way fast.

you are ever up to Ottawa (the one in Canada), you can come see dad's. When ever I am driving it people come running up to you just to ask what year it is. Even had someone get out of their car at a red light.

WHAT? In California?
If you don't mind sharing, what part of the state was this in? Was this at a car show or something?
My friends out there tell me that the only way to register a grey-market car is to have its emissions tested at the state-run laboratory (yes, even if it's 25+ years old. California has its own emissions laws.)
There's only one such lab, and the last they heard, they weren't accepting any new measurement sessions from private individuals, just corporations. So it's literally impossible to be compliant with the law.

Not sure if I'm reading your statement correctly, but if you're asking why you never heard of it: Indeed, it was only ever sold in Japan. It's one of those "Galapagos Island Syndrome" cars that is made in Japan, for Japan, and nothing more.
It was made at the "Pike Factory" alongside the Nissan BE-1, S-Cargo, and Pao. They sold out quite quickly. Turbocharged 3-cylinder engine. A lot of people say it shares tonnes of parts with the Micra, but that isn't true. It was built to look like classic Italian city cars of the 1950s. The interior styling still looks fabulous for a car that's 24 years old.
The only year of production was 1991, so the Figaro currently IS NOT legal for import in the USA. That's why this is so surprising.
They are quite popular in the UK/Ireland/Canada apparently. A member of the Royal Family has one, as does Eric Clapton's wife, IIRC.

Los Angeles, and that's pretty much true. And the GTR was at a meet, the Figaro on a street nowhere near
