Three X-15s, three lifting bodies, an F-4, what may be an orange F5D, an NF-104 and a Gooney Bird. I think I may have found my dream garage. (Edits thanks to Skyfire77!)

That orange one doesn't look like a Hun. Not sure what it is.

The orange plane is one of NASA's F5D s. Between it and the C-47 is an NF-104.

That is indeed a lot of awesome for one structure to contain!

Lets get it on. I was looking for a pic I've seen of, I think Neil, and its not the full crash you can find easily, its a pic of a hard landing, you can see the fuselage is bent and it did drag a bad bad wheel or something. Interesting day I bet.

I don't think so, the day I saw the plane being used had a kink in it behind the cockpit, like it hit hard and bed the whole plane but didn't break it. This looks like a successful day. Cool pic, I don't remember this one. I'll put it on my blog! I will try to find it, I know its on my page somewhere.

ah, yeah that was Scott Crossfield. Had an engine problem after drop and landed heavy. The aircraft was rebuilt and is now in at Wright-Pat

Not sure if I've shared this before, but it's too cool not to.

I caught this on A&E back in the '80s, and was blown away. A look at the early attempts to break the sound barrier, and the incredible work done by the pilots of the X-15s; I give you An American Experience: The Rocket Pilots .

I have an unhealthy obsession with the F-104. It's just one of those planes that "looks" like a fighter.

Still looks state-of-the-art fifty years later.
