We got a bit of Sahara dust the other day (expecting a bit more in coming days) and although the car is very well protected I wanted to give her a wipe down and remove any loose dust left behind. So out came the quick detailer and liberally applied to a panel at a time and gently wiped off the dust, then another microfibre to and another spray to top up the gloss and buffed. Did the wheels in the same fashion and Permanon Glass RTU cleaned and treated the glass, sheened the tyres and added a further level of gloss with Migliore Cima Sealant (great product not sold in the U.K. so have to get it in from the U.S. which is a PITA) and looks great.
In the U.K. we aren't legally obliged to have a national markers on our cars like the rest of the E.U. (ie, a European Union flag with 'PL' below for Poland or 'G.B.' for Great Britain) and can go without, use the E.U. flag or put on our own (within reason, nothing offensive). Now my baby I didn't want an E.U. flag on but I saw some adhesive gel badges that I quite liked so duly ordered and applied.
Couldn't apply the one to the front due to where the screw mount is located.
Looking good for a two year old.
But the rear one was good to go.
Little close up.
Lovely.

Does dust seriously reach there from North Africa or you're just saying it was a dusty day?

Part of the UK will be hit by unusually high levels of air pollution and a dust storm from the Sahara on what is predicted to be the warmest day of the year so far with temperatures predicted to rise to 71.6F (22C).
Certain areas of south-east England are expected to face very high levels of pollution due to warm conditions leading to a build-up of local pollutants from sources such as traffic fumes, combined with more pollution from the continent and Saharan dust from the south.
Met Office forecaster Dan Williams said: "Friday is expected to be the warmest day with 69.8F (21C) or 71.6F (22C) possible."
"Air is coming from the tropics and passing over land to the south of the UK before coming here."
The problem is expected to be relatively short-lived however as Atlantic winds should disperse the polluted air and Saharan dust in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Nicola Maxey, spokesperson for the Met Office said: "There will be a little bit of Saharan dust in the air. Most people will not notice it unless it rains and is washed out of the air. If this happens then people may see fine particles of dust on their car windscreen for example.
Last year.

Government health advice has been issued amid warnings that pollution spreading across England will again hit high levels later.
The pollution - a mix of local and European emissions, and dust from the Sahara - has caused a thick layer of grime to form on cars and buildings around the country.
It can even reach across the atlantic.

Looks good! I just got some CG Citrus Wash and Gloss and some CG Nonsense in as well as some Lexol leather cleaner, and Lexol leather conditioner, and some Megs natural shine interior protectant. Now, if only it would STOP FREAKING RAINING AND BLOWING DIRT AND DUST AROUND RIGHT AFTER IT RAINS so I can actually use some of it!

Ye', we in the U.K. aren't required to have a 'E.U.' flagged 'G.B.' licence plate unless we take the car into mainland Europe then we must either get an 'E'.U.' flagged plate or a country identifier sticker.

Oh ye', weather can be a bitch. We've had glorious weather the last few days but once I'd finished with the quick detailer, I'm not kidding a cloud came over and dropped a few seconds of rain and left. Just to let me know who's boss.

Wow. But I suppose that is no different than the fact that all of our states can be identified on/by the license plate. Did not know that about the EU.

The deal with the E.U. Plates is most of the E.U. Is in what's called the Schengen Zone (the U.K. And the Republic Ireland for example are not) and borders are open to everyone once your in the zone you are free to travel from one country to the next so foreign cars are often seen about the place of which some countries have similar looking licence plates such as some older Belgium plates and the U.K. (Belgium has some red letter on white back ground plates as opposed to the U.K.s black on white front plates and black on yellow rear plates, so red on white and black on yellow all look the same on a black and white camera/ANPR photo).
It's also supposed to show a national unity for the E.U. that we are member states of the E.U. as well as identify the origin of the car.
We are usually quite resistant to the E.U. such as when they insisted we adopt metric weights and measures and dropped imperial units. We now use both but have a standard unit for a specific task such as road signs are in miles and not kilometres.

That prompted me to do a little more in-depth research into the EU and GB, Ireland and Switzerland. An interesting thing is this EU. I guess I now understand better why some countries have opted to stay out. Thanks.
