So there is two great MX-5s(I am not calling them Miata, coz Yrop), one is '95 NA with a nice rollbar , the other is a '99 NB with fresh paint, less km and an AC. I am 6'1'' and am ready to botch them in order to fit. I am leaning for the NB, because really looks stunning with the new paint also AC, but it is the 1.6 engine, whereas the NA is the 1.8, with a cheaper hardtop and the really well made rollbar. I am not looking at doing any work on them. I just want the fun they offer.

NA with the 1.8L
The only good NA.
People buying the 1.6 are missing out.

NBs never came with a 1.6 in the US market. Where are you?

Europe, the Easter part of it.

The sad thing is there is not a single one 1.8 for sale in Bulgaria, which is very strange, because they are not much more expensive than the 1.6 if you look at mobile.de.

Well I can't speak to your particular options, but I really prefer the NAs to the NBs. I also don't know how much the AC matters to you, but I live and drive in Phoenix, Arizona and I barely use the AC on my MX-5 because the top is almost always down.

Yeah I am thinking about that, do you need AC in a roadster, but this will become my DD when I sell the CLK next week, so I reason I will need the AC for the too hot to put the top down days.

If these two MX-5s are your only options, I'd go with the NA. 1.8L, lighter, roll bar. I also find the NB1 to not be as much of a looker as the NB2.

I own a 98 mx5 1.8 and it's a bit more civilised, the 1.6 isn't really down much in performance in the real world and when it's hot the AC will be a life saver.

I'm 6'1 and fit in my NB just fine. I did hit my knees on the stock steering wheel, but one Nardi Deep Corn later, I've solved that problem.

Those are the two great options in my price range. There is absolutely incredible 2005 NB with only 20k km, but it is x3 more expensive then I am willing to pay.

I have went without a/c in my car for 8 years now. TJ wrangler and now a NA miata (1.8). You get used to not having it and all that airflow makes a/c irrelevant. Though in traffic it sucks when it was particularly hot and humid. I'll vote for the NA btw.

Except for the wheel did you have any other ergonomics problems? I have a little problematic right knee and if there is not enough space to move it starts to hurt at around 45 min. of driving,

I never had an issue with my legs hurting in the miata. You sit relatively low so your legs are stretched out. After an 11 hour roadtrip (on Dunlop Star Specs) I was no worse in the miata than in any other car I've been in for that long.

Standard issue for your legs, so you can fit :)

The '99 NB is not nearly as good as the '00+ NBs. In this specific occasion, I'd go with the NA.
