Lancia should remake the Delta. They can . It's not like Ferrari has a hot subcompact in their lineup (Remember when Ferrari said to Lancia: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ?). Or, hell, a [vanilla] subcompact. Basically, kill the Ypsilon as a subcompact and make it a coupe sedan.
Then kill the current Delta and bury it in the Earth's mantle and redo it in a retro-modern style like the [new] Mustang or Challenger. Introduce it as two models: the base one and an HF, which is like the Fiesta S (no T). Then get a hot WRC2 team and give them a Super 2000-spec Delta and call it the HF Evo, let them crush the competition and move to WRC1, and offer a road-going version called the Integrale that is basically the comp version but retuned for sensible, user-friendly yet highly-hoonable road use, one that can basically kill off the Fiesta ST and incoming Focus RS, Golf R, and their kind.
The New Stratos would make perfect sense since they can sell the Delta's base model and a model over it as volume sellers.
Except that it will never happen. Ever . Hell, even if they make that, no one will buy it . Because the world is cynical.

Here's what Dylan thought of my "plan":
I totally agree though! It would work. Now is a good time for Lancia to try to attempt to revive its legendary cars. There is always a big market in Europe for sporty hot-hatchbacks. There is no shortage of options, but a new contender wouldn't hurt. It would also be one of Italy's best offerings next to the Alfa Romeo Brera which is decidedly more upper-class and less of a toy.
But for many long, depressing years, Lancia has been run by a bunch of corporate pencil-pushers and businessmen who don't care about cars or racing heritage.... on top of that, they are not very well funded now either and struggle with sales. I'm afraid we'll never really see a return to glory from Lancia and that makes me sad.
The youth of today are very affectionate of 1980's and 1990's cars and at this point in their lives, could probably afford a new car on a loan. A new Delta Integrale (if designed with care and passion) could be a HUGE marketing success and bring back Lancia's heritage. If they wanted to take the easy route, they could borrow the underpinnings from an Alfa Romeo and simply reskin it with a beautiful new rally inspired body. I'd buy one.... after I buy an original Delta Evo first, LOL
Hmm... well, whaddya think? Would it work? I still think it would. Fiat-Chrysler just has to have the will to do so.

They could probably still rez the Stratos. Wasn't the main problem with that one, that it was basically a Ferrari with a Stratos styled shell?

As much as I'd love to see the badge return to glory, the businessmen won't let it happen, sadly, because it'd cannibalize Alfa Romeo sales.

Oh, come on. It's not like Alfa's hatches are selling that hard. And besides, the New Delta will be the ONLY car Lancia will have to start with. No Stratos. No Beta. Just the Delta. Simply base it on the Dodge Neon.
