Story time!

Have you ever seen a road sign that claimed some land to be part of a country? I guess you have But what about it being in some place totally far off? Like thousands of miles away.

Well, if you take a trip around Argentina you will.

About ten years ago I took a trip to Iguazu Falls I saw several legit road signs with "Las Malvinas son Argentinas" ( The Falklands are Argentinian ) all the way to Misiones, in the far North.

The story doesn't end there, on the way back into Argentina, a couple hours from the border with Paraguay our bus got stopped by some Gendarmería officers (like an internal, Federal Military Police force) who proceeded to inspect the bus and search for contraband.
They found nothing, but that didn't seem to be enough for them so the two officers that remained on the bus got close to the bus crew and loudly affirmed, in a sort of inquisitive way " The Falklands ARE Argentinian! " to which the bus crew awkwardly replied "yes, The Flaklands are Argentinian". Then they just got off and told the driver to beat it.

Most likely because of all the aid Chile gave the TG crew after the "fracas" with Argentina.

(yes fracas is now the term used for all incidents involving TG)
