It has temp tags on the back, slashed tires, two broken windows, and graffiti on it...
The police said it’s been there for over two months and it’s on private property so they can’t do shit.

See if there's one of those signs that calls out "parking for Walmart only, towing enforced by...[insert random tow truck company here]" If they have one - call it the number for them.

My question is who forgets their car is just sitting at Walmart, unless the person is sitting in jail it just seems fishy that they would let the car sit there for 2 months. If I was the manager for Walmart I would have that fucker towed in about a week at the most. I wouldn't want some abandoned car sitting in the parking lot with broken windows and gang graffiti, its a bad look for the store and the neighborhood.

If it bothers you you can grab the VIN and contact the DMV and declare it abandoned. They'll attempt to contact the owner. If they can't it'll get passed to the police and you can make a claim to recover abandoned property. Then they'll put notices in the paper and 2 or 3 months later they'll give you paperwork for title. Then you'll own a busted ass Versa.
Probably not worth it.

This is New Haven, Connecticut - they need to a whole lot more to make the neighborhood/store look less bad!

Sounds like Wal-Mart's problem, not yours or the police's.

Given how shitacular Walmarts are on the inside it is not surprising that something like this is allowed to happen.

Temp tags on the back? Someone just bought it, probably paid way too much or otherwise got a shitty deal, then the car needed work. In some people's minds that's a good enough reason to abandon it and let the repo man worry about it.

Well, it's a Nissan Versa.
Maybe that's reason enough to abandon it?

Here's my theory: It has temp tags - it was just bought.
The owner signed the paperwork, realized they can't afford it - then think the dealer/bank screwed them over. They then in angry state of mind, decided to leave it at Walmart and destroy it so the finance company can't salvage anything.
I have a wild imagination...

We had someone abandon a car in the parking lot of the grocery store where I worked in high school. As I recall, the police also wouldn't tow it because of private property, and management was too cheap to do it themselves, so it sat there for months and months getting more and more vandalized, until someone from corporate noticed it and got it taken away.

My thoughts are:
1. Car may have been stolen. Often a car is stolen to commit some other crime and then the criminals park the car somewhere once they're done with it. Had a car like that show up in the visitor parking at a condo I used to live in.
2. Owner abandoned it for whatever reason. Possibly because it was used in a crime, possibly because they were broke, possibly because they're an idiot... or any combo of these.
3. Walmart shouldn't leave a derelict car in their parking lot like that. Makes the area look worse and it's taking up a parking spot. Complain to the store manager and also to Walmart corporate.

Stolen and dumped? But who the fuck would steal a Versa? A blind person?
