Because with Renault's resources, the current Red Bull B team, could beat Red Bull's A team. You know what? Fuck both teams!! RB should just get the fuck out and let car manufacturers race each other. Outside companies sponsor works teams, not the other way around.
I hope that shortly after Renault buys the B team, Audi buys the A team, and Red Bull can go back at actually making drinks and try to innovate in that area.

At the moment, their B team are beating their A team. I hope it continues and RBR continue to bitch about Renault while STR continue to work on their car. It will be hilarious.
BmanUltima's car still hasn't been fixed yet, he'll get on it tomorrow, honest.

If only car manufacturers competed in F1 there would only be 4 teams left.

Red Bull isn't just an energy drink company anymore... they own multiple teams in multiple sports including Auto Racing (2 F1 teams, 1 Rally team that I know of, likely more than that), Soccer (they own 5 professional clubs in 5 different countries), & Hockey (2 pro teams)... I'd be very surprised if their energy drink manufacturing and distribution assets were anywhere near as valuable as their sporting brand at this point. If that doesn't make them a credible auto racing team, then surely the 4 straight constructor championships does... So uhm... why all the hostility? Ferrari fan? I'm a McLaren fan myself, but I'd never question whether Red Bull was a legitimate racing brand...

I'm not anyone's fan, I just like a good show. And Renault's presence with a works team, would add up to that.

As long as Flavio's not involved, whatever makes the grid more competitive without making it a spec series or introducing handicaps is welcome by me.

A list of F1 constructors champions that didn't manufacture their own engines:
Lotus (Ford, have also run Renault with no championships)
McLaren (Mercedes, ford, TAG, Honda)
Matra (Ford)
Cooper (Climax)
A list of F1 constructors champions that don't even build cars outside of F1 or GP racing:
Red Bull (Renault)
Tyrrell (Ford)
Brabham (Repco)
Williams (Ford, Renault, Honda)
Benetton (Renault)
Brawn (Mercedes)
A list of manufactures that have won constructors championships using their own engines:
Vanwall
BRM
Ferrari
Renault
Mercedes
the list of non-champions is waaaay too long. but to suffice it to say: F1 has never been purely about 'works' teams.

Speaking as someone with an inside perspective on Red Bull's business strategy, F1 involvement is absolutely in line with their mantra. Their product is not energy drink, it's an experience. They create this image of extreme and performance by funding all sorts of things, from their F1 team to falling quickly from ridiculous heights. I find it difficult to believe that RBR-R will withdraw their main team anytime soon, but I also find it difficult to believe that they'd forfeit their B-team to Renault as the designers actually have quite a bit of interaction and interplay and they want to keep this window to their competitor's progress open. It's important to remember that they are competitors and not strictly a b/a-team structure. If that were the case, Ricciardo and Kvyat would be driving the STR-10 and Verstappen and Sainz Jr. would be in the RB11 getting it up to snuff.
