The YouTube comments detail what this guy did to his car: D15b non vtec block (stock internals with cosmetic head gasket and arp head studs, Z6 head (1000cc injectors supertech springs/retainers port and polish on intake and exhaust ports, Ebay turbo tuned at 18psi (built vitara z6 tune). Things didn't quite go to plan on his first drive.

I see that your spellcheck is not ready to build an engine either. (Cometic - >cosmetic)

Lol I can't wait to see what the idiots are going to do to the new honda engines that will have turbos. Can't wait to see Hondas with blown motors pop up all over craiglist.

As soon as I read Ebay Turbo I knew what I was dealing with here. He probably put all but 5 minutes of thought into his build.
I don't get why anyone would consider an ebay build.
DSM Injectors + EVO or Galant Evolution 16G turbo or some DSM takeoff 16G. This is what most "cheap build" people who are successful do. If you can get a $300 turbo have some place like arizona turbo and tractor supply rebuild it, they only charge like $200.
Seriously. 1000CC injectors. Why. Has a fucking 1.5l engine.

I'll be honest, most of what he described is so much alphabet soup to me. Thanks for some explanation. Aside from the details, it just sounds like this guy had absolutely no idea what he was doing. The results speak for themselves.

"ease into it" should not have had to be said to the guy on THE FIRST TEST DRIVE! just flooring it, yeah, if his "break in" process is any indication of the build and tune I can see why it failed

eh, just a d15, no loss :P
the lack of sadness when things turned to sparks makes me think this was an expected outcome, although perhaps not on the first run

WTF is a " cosmetic head gasket "? Is he talking about the valve cover?

Probably. He's clearly not the sharpest tool in the shed.

I suspect he meant "Cometic" which is a brand which makes gaskets

18 PSI from an Ebay Turbo on a STOCK non-VTEC motor. Jeex I wonder where this went wrong.

Can you translate that for me? Too much pressure for the block?

That was my thought as well. They didn't seem to particularly care that the engine blew.
Also, what is a cosmetic head gasket?

It's a non-functioning head gasket for appearance only. Far cheaper than the Cometic gaskets others use. Might be his problem.

It's supposed to be cometic. Might be autocorrect.

Maybe it was actually comedic . The results certainly were.

Far too much power on a stock block. The engine wasn't made to handle that type of pressure and stressed that forced induction creates. You would need to do internal work to reinforce the strength of motor itself to prevent it from blowing. What I've seen and been told by many in the Honda community is that on a stock block 5psi-8psi is typically a solid range to work with. Especially on older engines.

people think to be cool they have to pretend like everything is ok like they are so chill and talented they have no worries. also they say things like cool beans and when you thank them for something they say "no worries" instead of your welcome.

i think it means he used the original gasket and just cleaned it up nice with some brake cleaner.
