I like these things. They really shouldn't have been called Thunderbirds, but they're neat nonetheless. I mean, come on... suicide doors, hidden headlights, and landau irons? What's not to like?

Jet-age front end with carriage bar roof has always been jarring to me on this model...that's my beef. The two doors had it as well and it didn't work there either...

The smart thing might have been to include something that hinted at a carriage bar, but was an air relief/exhaust from the cab. A light S-curve reverse scoop with fluted strakes parallel to direction of travel, maybe? If the turbine car got away with having a vinyl top, the coke bottle Thunderbird should have been able to, but sometimes you can't just go on autopilot.

Here's the sort of thing I'm thinking of. Like what this gen of Capri had as an option (fake), but with chrome accents and in a gentle S-curve.

Yeah, that'd work. Or hell, I wouldn't mind if they'd just stuck an emblem on like they did with the 70-71 sportsbacks. The vinyl doesn't bother me, it's just that the bar is just so incongruous...backwards looking, in your face design piece on an otherwise forward looking vehicle. I guess they were just trying to hide the seam, but it doesn't work for me x.x

Ruind by a bad roof, the dumb carriage bars, and rear quarter panels that weren't nearly as sexy as the front quarters are.

I like the carrige bar roof on a lot of things but even I struggle to like it on this.
