You inspired me to take a quick look at just how available Ranchos are, and I'm sad to say they very nearly don't exist. None for sale on ebay.fr, other listings out of date, and classics sellers showing a blank slate. For as many as were made, you'd expect more to survive, but apparently the Simca 1100 drivetrain did it no favors (possibly comparable to the Neon drivetrain in a PT Cruiser), and the parts that matter underneath rust away to oblivion. The best odds of gettin one, then, might be to cruise all those places one might have been tossed away as garbage and start with completely different underpinnings for a nice fiberglass body...

Well done. About what I was suspecting price-wise as well: a solid example of rare not equating to valuable.

The Rancho was just a tarted up Simca van of course so I suppose it's inevitable that they aren't often preserved. Having said that the one in my picture is contemporary as it has the modern plates.
The Bagheera and Murena were more highly regarded and they have the advantage of fibreglass bodies so they're easy to find. Doesn't stop the chassis rusting of course...
