I went up Nevadaville Road in Central City, Colorado. That is the old Coeur D'Alene Mining road. Half way up is a ghost town adjacent to the mine that is slowly falling down the mountain. I went with my uncle who is a film photographer and a Rabbi, he is in town from San Fransisco. Here are some photos of the beautiful scenery:

My Uncle got a photo of me taking a photo:
It is my favorite road in all of Colorado. I would say that everybody should drive that road at least once. The entrance to the road is almost a completely vertical grade, its lots of fun going up.
Getting to Nevadaville is a beautiful drive as well, but its so high up that my engine bogged down to the point where I couldnt go faster than 65mph. If you go up there, bring a turbo or a large displacement engine.

Breathtakingly beautiful! To a guy living in SoCal, where the water levels are at a record low, this looks like the tropics!

These are awesome dude! Thanks for sharing. One of my favorite past times from college was driving around to some of the old mining towns and old equipment. Very cool.

fun fact; its not physically possibly to have a vertical grade, since grade is rise over run. Vertical grade is either 1/0 which doesnt work or infinity/1 which doesnt work.

I know its not possible, I was just trying to give a verbal illustration of how steep it is. You cant really describe it, you just have to be there
