Happy Easter! I promise my next posting will NOT be car related. I have several sets of pictures in the pipeline that simply cannot be posted yet.

Kinja'd!!!

It's been about 2 months since I've been to Katie's, and it's only the second time I've been with the new ride. Spring has finally arrived, and that means the crowds are getting bigger... but so far it's not like last year where Katie's was overrun (that's probably coming again this Summer... although I really hope not).

Kinja'd!!!

My car got some looks, a few pictures... until the Speedster parked next to me, and then the neon green Huracán kitty-corner... but that was later on. LOOK AT ALL THE PEOPLE LOOKING AT MY CAR!!! I'M BEING NOTICED!!!........

Kinja'd!!!

Everyone was totally into my car. Totes magotes.

I'm pretty sure I was one of those cars there that people aren't quite sure if I'm there for the show or the shops. Like that random Cross Cabriolet that shows up sometimes... or the completely stock Odyssey that has its hood popped... okay, he was just trolling hardcore.

Anyway, this was the first show I've attended this Spring, and it was a lovely morning for it, with a great new selection of arrivals.

I chose to use my 90mm Tilt-Shift this weekend, as it's my least used lens, but still one of my favorites.

So, massive typo in my post, and I can't change it because Kinja doesn't display my compose / edit window correctly (just shows all pictures and text stacked in a pile, not down the page like it should be).

In short, my second sentence shouldn't even be here - to clarify, ALL my posts on Oppo / Jalop are car related. I copied and pasted this post from my own photography business blog and forgot to remove that portion. Sorry for that confusion!!!

One of these days, after I fix this oil leak, I'm going to show up to Katie's C&C in my ZR-1, covered in mud, and park it in with all the Jeeps.

:p

Wow, a Jarama! Would've liked to see that in person. Nice shots!

I didn't even read the text. Just gawker at the pretty pictures. That shot with the E-Type is really good. The B&W combined with the guy's haircut makes it look like it was taken in the 60s/70s.

Damnit, why didn't I say hello? I saw you talking to Jagvar just after I started talking to another group of folks, and never caught back up with you.

Next time.

This thing was definitely cool.

When it pulled in, I first thought it was an Espada when I saw the NACA ducts in the hood.

Kinja'd!!!

Then as it passed, I was a little confused. I had totally forgotten about the Jarama, and couldn't remember if it had a V12, or a V8. It was made at the same time as the Espada, and was a little smaller.

The Jarama had the 3.9 liter V12.

Here's a short clip of him from two years ago.

Fun fact, the Jarama's headlight eyelids retract down.

I actually hadn't realized it was you until Jagvar and I walked off and he said "it's been forever since I've seen McMike!" Dude, we never see each other LOL.

Cool stuff! Thanks for sharing my link on your VW forum too - I saw the traffic coming from there so decided to check it out and saw the conversation. You're indeed right; I was using a genuine 90mm f/2.8 tilt-shift - I don't do fake Photoshop / Instagram effects like that. Thank you for clarifying.

I typically use a less common lens for fun shoots like this because not only does it put a different spin on subject matter that is photographed by the masses in a very straightforward way, but it is also fun for me to be challenged by using a less-than-ideal camera setup to still get great shots. Sure, I could easily shoot it with my 24-70 and get perfect shots consistently every single time, but that is simply wayyyy too sterile for me - it bores me. I get paid to take sterile, safe photos; it is not a challenge to me - the shoots I enjoy the most are those for which I am hired and told to do anything I want, be as creative and experimental as I choose ("do my thing"). But some people don't appreciate that, and simply don't grasp that I'm shooting this A) for fun, and B) to experiment in order to hone a creative edge. It's the internet; there will always be people who dislike. I shoot Cars and Coffee events very differently than if I were documenting an event for hire; I can shoot it any way I like, and am accountable only to myself - it's liberating.

I wanted to share them over there because one of the guys I was talking to owns that purple Chevy SS and I saw you and Jagvar taking photos of it.

Cool photos.
