Well, I read the Gamecat235 post on the unshareing of a comment. The things I took away from it and the comments to it were:

Why was this posted to Oppo in the first place? I did not know The Satire Report even existed.

Who Shared this and why?

Based on the comments to said post, we have a lot of people with strong opinions on the subject. From Manhattan to California.

I try to stay neutral on most religious topics and as a person who went to a Catholic school until 10th grade, I have seen both sides of this topic. As an older and wiser person, I have other more pressing issues to deal with. The whole thing just seemed so odd for Oppo. My views on religion are my own and I generally keep them to myself.

Instead of making an entire post about it, why didn't you just reply to his comment?

I do believe that it was the writer of that "blog" who shared it.

Probably should have. But... didn't.

That would make sense.

The author (the satire rapport) was the one who shared it originally. He posted it on his personal blog and shared it here. And, well, in the context that it was shared with (straight share, no context or warning, on Easter of all days... I may not be religious myself, but I am still sensitive to others), I didn't feel like I had a choice.

But I wanted to explain why I unshared it. And it also seemed like a decent learning moment as well, so I shared my comment for others to see.

I think you handled it well. It was not appropriate for Oppo or for an Easter Sunday. Religious or not, you need to respect others beliefs/feelings. I was basically taken aback by the very posting of it here. Now I understand better. As Brian pointed out, I probably should have posted that as a comment and not a new post. You are a good mod, Gamecat. Always fair and rational.

I don't mind anyone telling me their views on anything. If they promise me not to try to convince me it's the only view to have or judge me for mine I'll promise them I won't quit speaking to them and walk away.
