I'm thinking of getting an replica Eames DSW to use as a desk chair
thoughts?

Did I win? I was told that I would win a new Ford GT for answering the survey.

I love those chairs, but for sitting back and using the full chair. Unless you have some perfect desk ergonomics, I don't think it's gonna be great for a desk chair.

these arent the best desk chairs.
i wouldnt want to spend multiple hours in one.
also, the replicas can be a little wobbly and shakey and squeaky.
have you sat in one yet? i highly recommend it. especially if youre a big guy. ive seen guys over 200lbs have difficulty being comfortable in them.
swiveling and rolling would be a top priority for me. and leaning... this wouldnt take much leaning before it broke i imagine.

The stool part looks cool, but the top reminds me of my middle school desk. So thanks for those unwanted memories.

I'm only 132lbs although I am 6 foot. I've sat on one in a store today, and I liked the feel of it. The construction of that particular replica was pretty solid, but I didn't like how the seat was made out of flexible (polypropylene) plastic. I've seen some fibreglass and ABS chairs online which should be pretty damn solid, but I'm worried that those might have flimsy wooden legs.
Oh, and I sit pretty still, my current chair is just a cheap metal stool and the lack of any back support is killing me.

haha, it does make me want to try stacking them.
that would be an expensive experiment!

Also, depending on your desk, wouldn't you want armrests? Considering the amount of browsing I do, I couldn't live without them.

I hate armrests. I've got a fully adjustable office chair and all its become is a mountain of clothes. I have carpet and that thing is heavy and hard to wheel around.

What shape desk do you have? Is it just a rectangle, or L-shape, curved, etc? You have to rest your arms somewhere!

just a rectangle. It's actually a computer desk, so I have a tenkeyless keyboard which I can chuck away if I need to do any paperwork
