I have a set of good wheels which just don't seal that well anymore. Tubes were considered this winter...

I couldn't find any reliable information on the kind of rim you need for inner tube tires. My guess is that its a lot like bike tires: you can put a tube in a tubeless wheel and tire system, but you can't go tubeless on a tube wheel/tire system.

Precisely. Tubes are used a lot in rally, btw.

I wonder why? seems like its more weight and less balance.

You can keep the tire pressures really low and not worry about losing the tire from the bead unseating. Also, rally tires are pricey, and a tube is easier than patching whenever they get cut.

makes sense. Funny though that low tire pressure worries is why you buy tubeless tires for mountain bikes.

When were these common? I've never seen them and i'm not young.

me either. I watch a lot of Australian/South African touring TV and they mention tubes a lot...I was just curious to see if they even still sold them here. I'm actually thinking about getting a couple so I have a plan C for a 160 mile tour i have coming up.

The best kind for tubing on a river. It's just not the same otherwise.

I had one in my truck tire for a while. For some reason, the tire wouldn't seal and a tube fixed it. I have since bought new tires, but I didn't think they were that uncommon. I've seen them hanging on the walls of both garages I've been too.
