You don't want it. I had one. Worst car I've owned. When it ran well it was ok but underpowered. Fancy options were cool and ahead of their time but build quality was shit.

It's not the power that sucked, it's reliability and rust problems. I had the motor at least once a year. After 3 years I finally have had it and scrapped the damn thing.

Being early 90s GM none of that is really surprising

The statement "I have an unusually strong attraction to early 90's Pontiacs" makes me assume one of four things:

1. You actually have a plastic body cladding fetish you've kept hidden for years that you're attempting to slowly admit to and this is your first step.

2. Things like coolant leakage into the intake and warped aluminum heads don't frighten you.

3. You are on the East Coast and what you posted at 12:44 AM April 1 shows up with a time stamp of 11:44 PM March 31 for me because I'm in Texas, therefore meaning this is a very subtle April Fool's joke.

4. The sum total of you experience driving early 90's Pontiacs (or early 90's GM's) is less than 90 minutes (6 separate 15 minute occasions).

In the name of all that is holy I hope it's #3

Yep, now that I've read the comments again it appears my sarcasm meter was rendered inoperable by the shocking nature of the title itself.

Carry on.

I am pained by how much I want one and how shitty they are. Broken door handles every five seconds, an engine that is straight-up IMPOSSIBLE to work on while in the car, and a transmission that grenades itself on a regular basis and has to be serviced in Germany.

It's a damn pretty vehicle though.

I know they're terrible cars at the best of times but if I did ever buy one I sure as hell wouldnt be driving it on a regular basis

Lol, well that's promising to hear.

I'm probably not the most neutral person to ask about early 90's GM cars in general much less specifically Pontiacs. I worked with a lot of dealerships in the late 90's and mechanics at the time didn't speak too highly of them although to be honest it was the GM cars with Quad 4's and to a lesser extent the Tech IV version of the Iron Duke that caused the vast majority of problems. The only issue in particular they had with the LQ1 6cyl that's in the '91 Grand Prix is that is was a huge pain to work on.

As far as you liking them, hey, to each his own, especially in taste in cars and the kind of women he likes dating. I have a huge hard on for 9th & 10th generation Ford Thunderbirds with forced induction, Lincoln Mark VII's and LS's, and obscure rebadged versions of 80's/early 90's pocket rockets that hardly anybody even remembers being made.
