Digging back into The Wrens after they popped up on my Guided By Voices station. Only three records but they are all perfect. The Meadowlands is one of my all-time favorite recordings. Totally a desert island album.

If you like any of those poppy bands with a tinge of punk rock from the mid 90s like Deathcab, Pedro the Lion, Jimmy Eat World, or even GBV, Pavement, and Superchunk, you really need to own those records.

That is all.

I had the biggest crush on Sarah Shannon in college. Could never decide between her, Tanya Donnelly, or the singer from Seven Year Bitch.

Velocity Girl was pretty terrible live both times I saw them, by the way. Opened for Sugar in '95 then saw them at SXSW in '97 or '98 right before they broke up. Copacetic is a great record though.

Can't stop listening to Wrens though. Dang but those are some solid songs...

oh yeah they were super bad live, but really cool people regardless. There was one night I got to hang out with them outside Philly since we had mutual friends. Great on record though. She is still looking mighty fine, I think she has 5 years on me but whatever. Tanya Donnelly is a friend of mines cousin, so I have seen her numerous times when she comes up. Also a cousin of a friend was Kay Hanley, and you can ask me on pm about one night hanging out with her there...

My friend Matt is friends with Archie from Velocity Girl. Our old drummer Chris, who is now with Ted Leo, was in a different band and playing some shows in DC/Philly/Jersey with them back in the day. I hear things got nuts.

Chris is a beast, by the way. These guys blew Fugazi off the stage in '97.

Something about listening to 2112 something like 14 times in a row.

If you ever get bored, find a documentary called Towncraft. All about the Little Rock punk scene in the late 80s and 90s. You'll be shocked at how vital it was. We were just a bit younger than most of the LR crowd but still played tons of shows with Soophie Nun Squad back in the day, and the very first Lucero show.

I really want to pick it back up. I have some friends who might want to do some low-key collaborations via Garage Band and Dropbox. I miss playing...
