I am convinced the herrafrush crowd will send their low-riding agents after me for saying this, but I think fat tires and wheels extending beyond the fenders looks purdy. None of this tuck, excessive camber, or whatever other jargon they use to describe ruining handling, a healthy amount of negative offset and possibly trimmed fender arches is all I need.

Why do you have your flamesuit on? Are you going racing?

That's the perfect way to describe it, meaty. Reminds me of how Taco Bell describes a number of their items.

I'm a huge fan of widebody, super exaggerated fender flares, and deep dish rims, but the scraping, camber and cracked body panels just can't be worth it. All the paint work, cost of the body panels, cost of the wheels that scuff on the fenders....just a complete waste to me.
Once you hear a couple stories about oil pans being sheared clean off the bottom of a car by a manhole cover, you just can't help but laugh. I'd like to lower my car, but maybe an inch max. Probably just 3/4" in the front though. Need room to squat.

Oh, I by no means support the scraping, extreme camber, and oil pan sacrifice. I just like a nice, healthy wide stance with optional widebody/flares to contain the added rubber.

That is a nice fitment. I could even see going a bit narrower on those wheels, with the same size tires. They don't look stretched, but the wheel rim does look like it is hanging out and vulnerable to curbs.
Any wider than that, and I would definitely want over-fender flares.
But yes, i do quite like that RA Celica, and I agree that cambering, stretching tires, and much of the 'wilder' aspects of 'stance' are ridiculous, and I greatly prefer functionality. Functional tires, functional wheel fitment, functional fenders that cover the tread and shield from the tires flinging things.

Perhaps I have dressed in preparation for a flame war that won't occur. Anywhere else on the internet, saying you prefer tires fully in contact with the pavement and tall ones at that is inviting Armageddon.

Curb vulnerability seems to be the only downside to this type of setup. And I agree, more narrow tires would look much better and be more functional at that. Function>Form any day of the week.
