Guess I'll not be posting pictures anymore since using the comment box/image tool I get a perpetual 'Image Upload Error' message...

Same here. At least I could use the img src tag to get around it before.

It's also the most convenient way for me to post youtube links while being blocked from youtube at work - because otherwise I have to sanitize text for italics and such and manually add an "http://" from search results somewhere else like notepad. Irritating.

That only works like 20% of the time for me. Usually it just says "Image Upload Error". Been an issue for ages and the HTML editor was an easy solution (as well as allowing bizarre copy-paste formatting to be fixed).

I have had bad luck loading images from URLs the last few days...
but uploading from a saved file seems to still work consistently.
If I download the image first, then re-upload here... it seems to work reliably, where the URL method seems to fail almost every time.
