What're your thoughts on it? I think it's great, and very true. For everyone out there who is saying, "Oh no one likes cars anymore! No one is interested! Blah bah blah" this is just another example of how wrong they are. I think it's great that these rich tech guys are spending their money on racing and cars rather than, well, something else like yachts or helicopters or whatever.

Yeah, most of the rich guys around here (Seattle) are into boats, which I could not find more boring.
Racing is crazy expensive, but it doesn't have the exclusivity and snobbery that golf or yachting does.

In the article one of the interviewees actually notes that he is spending less money on cars and racing than he would if he were into golf. But yah, definitely get the feeling that there is this kind of unknown contingent of avid racing fans in the upper tax bracket here in the Bay Area. But I think that Seattle/the PNW has huge potential as well. Exotics @ RTC, PNW Historics, heavy involvement in local car clubs, PIR in Portland are all great events with a lot of involvement of rich tech guys.
