I still don't get how this is good for any car's grip. But damn near every hot hatch seems to do it.

It doesn't help for grip and is usually reduced or corrected with a sway bar. But it's awesome and makes you look fast!
Also, makes you oversteer in a FWD.

Needs a bit more negative camber me thinks

They do that to simulate the feeling of losing/reducing traction at the rear so it feels more like what people expect in a "sports" car.
That, or because they're too lazy to dial it out with a sway bar from the factory.
Hot hatches are more about what feels fast, and what hits certain number benchmarks, than what's actually fast. And that's okay.

Lol, makes it look like you could of had more grip! But oversteer feels are probably worth it.

I can get behind feels-over-speed. Just didn't put enough thought into it to realize that would feel oversteery, only was thinking turn in.

All of my cars have been hatchbacks and so far the only one that did't "lift the hind leg to pee" was the Mk5 GTI, but it also was the only one with IRS and also weighted a few hundred pounds more than any of the others.
Snap oversteer is quite fun and helpful on slow AutoX courses, not so much going 130mph on the track.
