Kinja'd!!!

A car for the car-hating, law suit threating, baby kicking, bliker fluid changing, white Oakleys wearing poser-douche. Honestly, no self respecting car enthusiast would ever be caught dead in an M3 convertible. That would be like choosing a 911 with an automatic. Screw people who do that, they ruin my life and should rot in hell.

/s

On a serious note, this M3 convertible looked awesome. 10/10 would drive. Love me a folding hardtop.

The one above has the red seats. They are excellent.

Hot damn I love me some convertibles. Hardtop 'vert is on my automotive bucket list. These are some of my favorites.

Well, not all 911 automatics is bad.

Except the very early 4-speed one. That should die in hellfire.

I'd get one. I would rarely use the roof but I could roll the windows down for a pillar less opening reminiscent of the great American cars of old.

Kinja'd!!!

Like so.

This might be an unpopular opinion...but the roofline of the convertible is almost more interesting than that of the coupe. I know it's heavy as hell but it still handles damn well.

Give me a DCT, convertible M3 any day. All 4100 pounds of it.

The first one I ever saw used for sale was a fully loaded red-over-red model with the carbon trim, every single option. Lowered on BBS wheels and with a supercharger and big exhaust. Looked like porn with the top down.

Wow red over red. Much red!

With supercharger? That gives it like 700 HP. So nuts!

I didn't see any comments from you on the FP post about Ferrari's V12 plans. Have you commented since?

I think it had the ESS 650 hp kit, so much want.

Really? Fucking hell. I wrote a big long post on it...in fact I was the first one.

I'm starting to think they're deleting my posts, or something. It's the only rational explanation. Because I hit Publish and wait for it to finish and reload it just to make sure.

The FP is slowly slipping away for me...less and less fucks to give every day.

Damn 650 HP is still so much. Everyone is still freaking out about the Hellcat but people were buying used E9X M3s years ago and making them 600+ HP for not that much money for what you got. Nice car with nice interior with a shit ton of power.

This is the worst part about N/A engines dying. They had so much power potential with just a blower because the engines were big and designed well. The little 3L 2015 M3 can be chip tuned for more power but I'd still rather have the 4L with a blower than the 3L with more boost.

I'm gonna try to find your post now.

Yeah, and the bonus part is that an E90 M3 actually turns and stops too ;) I would love to do that, the world record for whp on an E92 M3 is ~773 with a slipping clutch and without going to redline. Would be so much fun.

That is very true, NA cars are great if you have the money to tune, they love boost. The V10 is easy to push to ~700+ hp with a supercharger. Stroker + SC = omg

Kinja'd!!!1

Wow 773 WHP on an E90

You know what we really need?

850i + stroker conversion + SC

We would basically be building the closest thing possible to a GT version of the McLaren F1. Dat V12 with the mods would have a lot more power and we'd have the sexy big coupe body.

Someone just needs to do a decent DOHC head swap for the M70, because apparently the stock heads are appalling and it's very hard to make them better. It costs like 45k to get them to ~550 NA horsepower. But, SC would definitely help. I'm still bitter about the lack of an M8.

Kinja'd!!!1

Yeah it's crazy that it costs $45K to get it over 500 HP. So the stock heads are really bad? They McLaren F1 motor was DOHC, right?

I know the lack of M8 is terrible

I know it doesn't relate to this particular M3, but I don't get why everyone adores the cloth seats and put so much value in them. I would go for red leather any day of the week.

Yeah apparently so. They're only SOHC and 2 valves, with terrible shape (compared to modern engines) for the ports. You can get them massaged but at some point you have to just have more money than brains haha. There are some guys that have tried to fit S52 heads to the block, with some success, but its funny because the M73 heads are actually asymmetrical. So you have to do some weird machining and shit to make them work. But apparently it has been done, and then you're close to a McLaren F1 engine. But that's also expensive. But I also want one.

They are pretty heavy, the top adds a lot of weight. But, they still handle pretty well, they still manage about a 50/50 weight distribution.

I feel the same way about the new Mustang. I prefer the look of the drop-top. to me, on the coupe where the C-pillar meets the rear quarter is abrupt with pronounced "hips" which I don't care for.

Superleggera should be awesome, the current car is almost Veyron-fast up to almost the quarter mile now. Oakley Design is working on a RWD conversion too
